About Pull up a Chair

PUAC is a video engagement tool, designed to capture the views and thoughts of people in a comfortable environment to camera.

The approach can be used to explore personal contexts and themes, allowing individuals the opportunity to talk freely of their experiences.

Film footage will provide valuable insights into how to shape positive responses to service users and enable providers to embed the principles of co-design into the design and delivery of activities.

The tool has been designed for use with older people but is a model that will work other population groups, allowing the exploration of themes that are often difficult to discuss, such as loneliness or bereavement.

In pilot projects, 40% of older people were keen to express their feelings in this way and were delighted both by the process itself and the resulting film. In some ways, it became a positive intervention in itself, giving a voice to people who feel they are seldom heard.

A demo film, exploring the themes of Isolation and Loneliness is available at www.ageukwd.org.uk
